Awards • Core77 Design Awards

The Future Archetypes of EV Charging project—developed as part of the Sustainable Solutions Workshop—has been awarded two 2024 Core77 Design Awards in the categories of:

  • Consumer Technology

  • Transportation

Led by Carlos Teixeira, Deaa Bataineh, and Jordan Ostapchuk, this project explores how design, strategy, and systems thinking can shape the next generation of investable EV infrastructure—bringing equity, intelligence, and sustainability to the forefront of mobility innovation.

Developed through a Research through Design approach, the workshop examined how emerging EV charging infrastructures can serve as long-term platforms for value creation and system-wide transformation. Participants imagined future archetypes of EV charging that operate at the intersection of multi-systems, multi-stakeholders, and multi-intelligences.

The project also foregrounded equity and ethics, addressing how EV infrastructures can avoid deepening inequalities through thoughtful partnerships, pricing strategies, and inclusive design practices. Design values were embedded to prevent “dark patterns” and ensure that systems serve broad public benefit.

These future-facing EV charging concepts are not just about technology—they are about shaping infrastructures as public platforms, supporting sustainability, financial viability, and societal resilience.
