Lecture · Innovation & Engineering through Design

Lecture • Al Hussein Technical University

As part of the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, Deaa Bataineh joined students at Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) for a lecture exploring how design functions as a framework for systemic innovation. Deaa introduced the work on Strategic Choice-Making©—a capacity to go beyond decision-making and ask what futures we’re enabling in the first place.

The lecture illustrated how today’s engineering challenges are deeply entangled with data, mobility, governance, and policy. Emphasizing the importance of designing not only products, but systems and infrastructures—shaping possibilities rather than merely optimizing within constraints.

By bridging design, systems, and engineering, the session opened a vital conversation about the role of Strategic Choice‑Making© in preparing future leaders to address the complex, interconnected challenges of the future.
